For koi & ornamental ponds

Gentle, natural care for koi and ornamental ponds.

Your fish live in the water you treat, so safety comes first. Nature’s Pond Care is gentle, natural care designed for ponds with fish: beneficial bacteria and gentle aeration clear the water and protect the biofilter, instead of an algaecide that can crash oxygen and harm koi. No harsh chemicals in with your fish.

The challenge

What gets between you and clear water

Small, richly stocked ponds load nutrients fast, so clarity and balance can slip quickly, and the fix has to be safe for the fish living in it.

Cloudy or green water

Cloudy or green water

Fish load and feeding drive nutrients that cloud the water and hide your koi from view.

String algae

String algae

Nuisance algae clings to rocks, edges and features in warm, sunny water, a symptom of nutrient imbalance rather than the root problem.

Bottom debris

Bottom debris

Uneaten food and waste settle into a layer that keeps feeding algae and clouding the water.

The algaecide trap

The algaecide trap

Dumping an algaecide can kill algae fast, then the dying algae consumes oxygen as it breaks down, which can stress or harm koi.

The approach

Gentle, fish-first care

Clear the water by fixing the balance, not by shocking the pond your fish live in.

Condition the water

Condition the water

Beneficial bacteria digest the fish waste and debris that cloud the water and feed algae, reducing the nutrients at the source.

Oxygenate gently

Oxygenate gently

Aeration keeps oxygen up for the fish and keeps the beneficial biology working around the clock.

Protect the biofilter

Protect the biofilter

A non-pathogenic, natural approach supports the beneficial bacteria in your filter instead of wiping them out the way a chemical dose can.

The science, simplified

Billions of hard-working microbes in every treatment

We have helped pond owners across North America shift from a costly cycle of chemicals to a natural approach that gets better over time, treating the cause of green water instead of just the symptoms.

Digests sludge, muck and organic bottom build-up
Concentrated beneficial bacteria and enzymes go to work on the organic sludge and muck on the pond floor, breaking it down so it stops piling up season after season.
Reduces the nutrients that fuel algae and weeds
As the bacteria digest that build-up, they use up the excess nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen that algae and weeds feed on, treating the cause of blooms instead of just the symptoms.
Helps clear and deodorize the water naturally
With less muck and fewer nutrients in the water, ponds clear up and the stale smell fades, with no harsh chemicals and no risk to fish, pets or wildlife.

Why we skip the algaecide

Algae is a symptom of nutrient imbalance. Fixing the balance is safer and lasts longer than shocking a pond full of fish.

FAQ

Common questions

Is algaecide safe for koi and ornamental fish?
We do not recommend dumping an algaecide in a koi pond. It can kill algae quickly, but the dying algae then consumes oxygen as it breaks down, and that oxygen crash can stress or kill fish. A gentle, natural approach that lowers nutrients over time is safer for the pond your fish live in.
My water is green but the fish look fine. Is that a problem?
Green water is usually harmless to the fish themselves, but it is a signal that nutrients are high and the pond is out of balance. Left alone it can lead to bigger swings in oxygen and clarity. Treating the underlying nutrient load keeps the water clear and the pond stable rather than just masking it.
Will your product hurt my biofilter?
No. Our approach adds beneficial bacteria and supports the biology your pond already depends on, rather than the broad chemical dose that can knock out the beneficial bacteria in a filter. Gentle conditioning and aeration work with your biofilter, so the system that keeps your koi pond healthy stays intact.
How do I clear the water without harming the fish?
Fix the balance instead of shocking the pond. Add beneficial bacteria to digest waste and debris, run gentle aeration to keep oxygen up, and reduce overfeeding. Clarity returns as the nutrient load drops. It is slower than an algaecide, but it is safe for koi and it lasts.
How much should I use for my pond size?
Dosing depends on your pond’s size and depth. Use the dosing calculator to get a starting amount for your water volume, then adjust to how your pond responds. For a small, richly stocked koi pond you can start conservatively and build up rather than overdosing all at once.
Can I use pond dye in a koi pond?
You can, though many koi keepers prefer lighter shading so the fish stay visible. Condition and aerate first to fix the underlying balance, then add dye lightly to taste for shade and a natural look. Dye is a finishing touch here, not the main treatment for a fish pond.
